Social Worker of the Year Award

 

The Social Worker of the Year Award honors a member of the NASW Missouri Chapter who exemplifies the best of the Chapter’s mission through specific professional accomplishments.

 

MISSION OF NASW MISSOURI CHAPTER

A member service and development association advancing a unified Social Work profession and standards, advocating for sound public social policies.

 

NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF SOCIAL WORKERS’ MISSION

To enhance human well-being and help meet the basic human needs of all people, with particular attention to the needs and empowerment of people who are vulnerable, oppressed, and living in poverty. A historic and defining feature of social work is the profession’s focus on individual well-being in a social context and the well-being of society. Fundamental to social work is the attention to the environmental forces that create, contribute to, and address problems in living.

 

In honoring the Social Worker of the Year, the NASW Missouri Chapter highlights superb accomplishments in the practice of social work in the member’s career.

 

Nomination Guidelines

  1. Be a member of the NASW Missouri Chapter in good standing (upholding the Code of Ethics).
  2. Have experience of five or more years in the field of social work.
  3. Demonstrate outstanding leadership.
  4. Represent NASW Missouri Chapters’ mission.
  5. Make a demonstrable difference in such areas as:
       - 
    Enhancing Social Justice
       -  Encouraging Cultural Diversity
       -  Promoting Community Service
       -  Advancing the Social Work Practice
       - 
    Advocating on behalf of the Profession of Social Work and the Clients We Serve
  6. Contribute to local, regional, and/or national social work practice development and NASW Missouri Chapter.
  7. Be recognized beyond the social work profession.
  8. Promote professional and personal integration of experience and education.
  9. Take risks for improving and advancing the profession of social work.
  10. Currently employed staff of NASW-Missouri may be utilized as a resource but may not make nominations or write letters of support.
  11. Current NASW Missouri Board members or Leadership Search Committee Representatives may not be considered for any award.
