CENSUS 2020: Help ALL be Counted

Presenters: Rachel Dame, MN 2020 Census Manager; and Joan Miltenberger, Community Engagement Advocate at Catholic Charities

It’s not just about getting counted. It’s the difference between whether children have access to healthy meals and medical care, whether elders obtain affordable housing and families receive energy assistance. Please join us to learn Census basics and how to be a torchbearer for equal representation and empowerment of communities. This webinar is for social workers from all professional areas who have direct engagement with persons who have traditionally been undercounted, such as persons who experience homelessness or housing instability, older adults and those with disabilities, families with low incomes and new immigrant communities.

About the Presenters

Rachel Dame serves as the MN 2020 Census Manager. She trains and consults community organizations on all things Census in Minnesota. Rachel is a graduate of the University of MN Humphrey School of Public Affairs and North Carolina State University. Her professional background includes program evaluation, and research of economic development initiatives, food insecurity and policing.

Joan Miltenberger, Catholic Charities Community Engagement Advocate, serves as a link between staff, clients, community groups and law makers, to deepen engagement and strengthen public policy solutions for some of the most vulnerable community members. Joan taps into her twenty plus years of experience and relationships in non-profit and interfaith collaboration to increase civic engagement and end homelessness.

These webinars take place on the first Wednesday of the month from 12:00-1:00 p.m.

Stay tuned to our Events Calendar for details on upcoming topics!
