Food Insecurity in Rural Minnesota

Presenter: Dawn Wegscheid, LSW

Take a closer look at rural communities in Minnesota that face increased food insecurity due to several surprising factors. Social workers will gain a better understanding of how disparities in the food system have increased in rural communities around the state. Food insecurity is one component of the systemic challenges all social workers face in working with communities. Often, food insecurity is the catalyst to larger health and basic needs challenges people face every day.

Any and all social workers at the micro, mezzo or macro level that do case management, advocacy and/or work with those who are struggling to access basic needs will learn something new in this session.
