Presenter: Corey Beauford, LICSW, LCSW-C:

 

A Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Maryland and the District of Columbia. Mr. Beauford is the Founder and President of Inspired Consulting Group, LLC, an agency that offers workshops that focus on a host of human-service related topics. Additionally, Mr. Beauford serves as a Clinical Instructor at the University of Maryland-Baltimore School of Social Work and an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Social Work at Coppin State University in Baltimore, MD.

 

Mr. Beauford has extensive experience working with individuals and families affected by various forms of relationship violence. Mr. Beauford is also an expert on the ethical and safe use of social media and various forms of technology.

 

Workshop Outcomes & Objectives:

 

This training will focus on the nexus between social media and intimate partner violence, particularly the manner by which abusers can stalk, manipulate, and control their partners through the use of media and technology such as Facebook, Zabasearch, GPS, and Intellius. We will offer strategies for safety planning around the use of social media and tracking technology that human service professional can offer individuals who are in or are fleeing abusive relationships.

 

By the end of this training, participants will be able to:

1.  Articulate how social media and various forms of technology can be used by abusers to exert power and control within relationships.

 

2.  Develop client safety plans and help clients safeguard themselves from abusers while using computers, cell phones, and social media.

 

3.  Assist clients who are in abusive relationships with identifying the traits of an abusers and distinguishing between healthy and unhealthy forms of love.
