Keynote Speaker - James S. Gordon, MD

James S. Gordon, MD, is a Harvard educated psychiatrist and a world-renowned expert in using mind-body medicine to heal depression, anxiety, and psychological trauma. He is the Founder and Executive Director of The Center for Mind-Body Medicine (CMBM), a Clinical Professor in the Departments of Psychiatry and Family Medicine at Georgetown Medical School and served as Chairman of the White House Commission on Complementary and Alternative Medicine Policy. Dr. Gordon has created groundbreaking programs of comprehensive mind-body healing for physicians, medical students, and other health professionals; for people with cancer, depression and other chronic illnesses; and for traumatized children and families in Bosnia, Kosovo, Israel, Gaza, Haiti, and Syrian refugees in Jordan; in post-9/11 New York and post-Katrina southern Louisiana; with Native Americans on Pine Ridge Reservation, and for veterans and active duty military. Dr. Gordon is the author most recently of The Transformation: Discovering Wholeness and Healing After Trauma.

EARLY REGISTRATION DEADLINE

Registration and payment must be postmarked no later than September 28, 2019 to receive the early-bird rate

 

CONTINUING EDUCATION

NASW, Iowa Chapter, has determined that this program meets the criteria of the Iowa Board of Social Work Examiners, Iowa Board of Certification, and the Iowa Board of Behavioral Sciences Examiners for 14.4 hours of continuing education for social workers, marriage and family therapists, and mental health counselors. 7.2 hours of CEUs available on Thursday, October 17, and 7.2 hours on Friday, October 18.

SPECIAL ACCOMMODATIONS

A registrant who requires ADA accommodations to attend or participate in the Annual Symposium should include a written request for accommodation with the completed Registration Form and fee payment by September 13, 2019 The written request must include the specific accommodation required. Every effort will be made to accommodate a special accommodation request received after September 13, 2019 but we cannot guarantee the accommodation.

IMPORTANT REGISTRATION INFORMATION

  • All mailed registration forms must be filled out completely, legibly, and be accompanied by payment or purchase order.
  • Registrations to be paid by credit card shall utilize the online registration process.
  • Confirmation email or postcard will be mailed within five days of receipt of registration.

Reservations should be made directly with Holiday Inn DSM NW, 4800 Merle Hay Rd., Urbandale, IA, 50322, at 800/465-4329 or 515/278-4755 by September 28, 2019 to receive the guaranteed rate. Please indicate you are attending the group registration code 017 to qualify for the special room rate. 

AWARDS LUNCHEON

The awards reception is open to all. Registration to the luncheon is included with paid registration fee. One may choose to attend the awards luncheon only by completing the registration form and including payment in accordance with conference deadlines.

PAYMENT METHODS

Registration fees may be paid by cash, check, purchase order, or credit card (American Express, Discover, Mastercard, Visa). All credit cards will be processed via online registration process. If you are paying by purchase order, please provide a copy of the completed PO with your completed registration form.
