Quakerdale Family Services currently has two open positions that will allow you to work outside of an office and in the community and homes of families, all while setting your own schedule.  We are in search of an Advanced Clinician and a Functional Family Therapy Coordinator. Both positions include on the job access to trauma informed training, allows for the opportunity to work with all ages and the ability to use your unique skills and talents on a daily basis. Under remote administrative supervision, as an Advanced Clinician you will provide in office assessments and therapy and counseling services to youth, couples and families. Under remote administrative supervision, as a Functional Family Therapist you will provide, at a minimum, weekly one-hour, home-based family therapy sessions to 12 to 15 clients. You will also serve as a recruiter and promoter of Functional Family Therapy as well as the other various services Quakerdale provides. In this position you will be vital to Quakerdale’s promotion in our communities around the state. You will be identifying where to market Quakerdale services, developing creative presentations, as well as join with others to develop and expand our community programs.  This position would base their services out of the Fort Dodge, Iowa region. 



1. MSW or MA/MS in social work, counseling or family therapy degree. License is required for the Advanced Clinician, would consider BA in social work, counseling or family therapy degree with years of experience for the Functional Family Therapy position.

Medical Social Worker III


The University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics department of Care Coordination is seeking a Social Worker III to provide direct social work services including assessment, treatment, interventions, and recommendations to facilitate movement through the continuum of care to adult medical patients and their families.  This role will also participate in and provide the social work perspective to interdisciplinary activities, as well as provide social work treatment, individually or in groups, to patients and clients and their families with complex emotional or social problems.  Additionally, this position assumes basic consultation, supervisory, teaching, research, program development, and/or administrative responsibilities. Duties to include:

  • Develops and implements plan of care, responsive to patient/family concerns, health care status, available resources, age‑specific problems, and clinical impressions.
  • Identifies patients requiring social work intervention through use of case finding.
  • Performs social work assessments with patient and/or family involvement, develops clinical impressions and rates severity of problems for planned interventions.
  • Provides range of social work services responsive to identified problems (e.g., help with psychosocial functioning, help with adaptation to illness, facilitating services, protective services, post‑hospital planning, etc.).
  • Provides information, consultation and professional support to interdisciplinary team members.
  • Provides information to team members regarding psychosocial issues and their impact.
  • Acts as resource for team (e.g., participates in patient care rounds, team conferences, etc.)
  • Advocates for the social work role with health care team members.

Candidates must have a master’s degree in social work (MSW) from a CSWE-accredited program, or a BSW from a CSWE-accredited program and a doctoral degree, preferably in social work. Minimum of an MSW and licensure required for tenure track. Candidates must also have two years post-master’s social work experience. Candidates must have teaching experience and be able to teach courses across the social work curriculum. Must be willing to teach in both face-to-face and online/blended platforms, during the day and evening, and if necessary, interdisciplinary courses.


Candidates must demonstrate a strong commitment to diversity and inclusion. Candidates must have demonstrated ability to work effectively and cooperatively with colleagues and students from diverse backgrounds and identities in an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community. The selected candidate will serve as an instructor for the BSW program, teaching courses across the curriculum at the micro, mezzo, and macro level. The teaching load will be 12 credits (four courses) each fall and spring semesters, in a combination of face-to-face and blended/online formats carried out in day and evening schedules. The candidate will participate in activities serving the department, such as advising students in the social work program, and contributing in departmental decisions and program development. The candidate will also be expected to engage in scholarship endeavors, and participate in activities serving the university and community.
