Self-Care & Ethics: Practical Application for all Social Workers

Presented by Peggy Reed-Lohmeyer, MSW, LCSW

3.0 Clock Hours

This course meets the Ethics requirement for licensure renewal.

Self-care is widely recognized as vital & necessary to good practice & sustaining oneself, however, it is typically under-practiced & when practiced, it is often without a thoughtfully considered plan.

This workshop will address what self-care is, professional ethical responsibilities of self-care, and actively involve attendees in assessing their own self-care & developing a personalized self-care plan.  Please note, these last two will be completed in the workshop by each individual & will not need to be shared with the group at large.  Members will be walked through the steps of completing these, shown multiple templates, & provided with ideas a “jumping off points”.

Educational Objectives:

  1. Describe what self-care is & is not.
  2. Identify ethical responsibilities related to self-care.
  3. Identify strengths & weaknesses in your current personal self-care practices.
  4. Develop a personalized plan for practicing ethical self-care.
